History
ATC Management

In July 1976, the Autism Treatment Center (ATC) was established in Dallas, Texas as a 501(c)(3) corporation designed to provide services to children and adults with autism and other related developmental disorders. In 1978, the Center expanded services to include a duplicate program in San Antonio. In 1992, ATC Dallas began providing services to individuals who are deaf-blind multi-handicapped whose needs for support very closely parallels individuals with autism spectrum disorder. In 2005, ATC San Antonio opened an Out-Patient Medicaid-approved Rehabilitation Agency to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services; ATC Dallas opened a similarly operated Rehabilitation Agency in December 2007. 2009 promises to be a year of new growth and opportunities, as a new group home will open in Dallas and we break ground on a Diagnostic, Therapeutic and Research Clinic in San Antonio. Over the previous 32 years, ATC has continually met the challenge of an ever-increasing rate of diagnosis and has expanded resources and capacity to remain current with the needs of the community, as well as treatment and trends.

The Autism Treatment Center's Board of Directors, comprised of volunteer members, is dedicated to the mission, philosophy and goals of the Center. Their direction and individual expertise has brought the Center tremendous growth and a staff of dedicated professionals. Numerous In-Services are offered each year, to allow personnel the opportunity to review new developments that may assist them in supporting and teaching the individuals in their respective areas. In 2008, ATC was designated a “School of Excellence” by the National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) for “truly exceptional dedication, commitment, and achievement in the field of special education”. ATC was one of 41 schools across the nation to receive this prestigious distinction.

ATC is licensed, certified, contracts with the following: Texas Education Agency, Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services, Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services.
